Summer Fun along Louisiana’s Coast!

Summer is the perfect time to explore, so what are you waiting for? Communities and cities along Louisiana’s Coast are always cooking up an adventure. Here’s a sampling of what’s in store for you:

“Geo” to Houma!
Summer is all about getting outside and taking advantage of great weather. One of the best ways to do this is with geocaching, and Houma has Louisiana’s only GeoTour. Geocaching is a GPS-based scavenger hunt that will take you to beautiful places in search of hidden treasure chests. The Houma Travel GeoTour contains over 50 hidden containers at locations such as antebellum plantations, nature preserves, wildlife parks and cultural centers. After completing the tour, visit the Houma Area Visitors Center to redeem your free commemorative token. To learn more about the Houma Travel GeoTour visit www.geohouma.com.

Majestic Louisiana’s Cajun Bayou
Take a break from the summer heat in Louisiana’s Cajun Bayou and spend a day taking a leisurely scenic drive to view majestic, centuries old live oak trees. Each one has a story to tell through the Lafourche Live Oak Tour. These towering giants have stood through decades of history draped with Spanish moss and brilliant green leaves. It’s not just the trees you will see, as you read a part of their history, you’ll begin to understand the Cajun way of life that helped shape the communities today. Stop in the visitor’s center in Raceland or check out the website for the official guide and map.

Visit, Eat and Stay in Lake Charles

Relax in style this summer at several pools with lazy rivers and water features including those found at SPAR Waterpark, Golden Nugget Lake Charles and L’Auberge Casino Resort in addition to the Isle of Capri and Delta Downs Racetrack Casino & Hotel. For wildlife adventures, you have to visit Creole Nature Trail Adventure Point to get tips before you hit the open trail to experience wildlife refuges, driving and walking trails and shelling along Louisiana’s Gulf Beaches.
