Blue crabs are an important part of the Louisiana economy and a staple along the coast. While commercial fishermen provide a bountiful yield of blue crab for local restaurants and markets, recreational fishermen also enjoy catching crabs for their own use for the dining pleasure of their family and friends.

Yellowfin tuna are migratory fish found in the gulf waters and can be caught year-round off the coast of Louisiana. The average yellowfin tuna weighs between 50 and 150 pounds, with the larger ones weighing as much as 200 pounds.

Each year, the International Grand Isle Tarpon Rodeo is a fishing tournament held during the last weekend in July,  with this year’s dates being Friday, July 26 through Sunday, July 28. To those living in the state of Louisiana, the Grand Isle Tarpon Rodeo is known as being one giant block party, with plenty of music, live entertainment and great food.
