5 Great Places to Eat in St. Bernard Parish Louisiana

There are many fine eating establishments just to the east of the New Orleans area in St. Bernard Parish. Many people that live or visit Louisiana understand that there is something quite unique about the delectable native cuisine offered throughout our southern coastline.

Many of the entrées can tantalize the taste buds and put a smile on nearly everyone’s face. Enjoying a meal in Louisiana is more of an event as compared to simply satisfying the craving to eat. In St. Bernard Parish, the restaurateurs prepare their dishes with a high level of reverence to the quality ingredients sourced from the local community. The biggest challenge to listing the finest eating establishments in St. Bernard Parish is narrowing it down to just a few. However, here are the current top favorites.

Rocky & Carlos
Chalmette would never quite be the same without Rocky & Carlos Bar & Grill. From their shrimp po’boy sandwiches, to their stuffed artichokes, and macaroni & cheese loaded with yummy red gravy, Rocky & Carlos puts a new twist on Creole cooking. They offer an inexpensive but phenomenal eating experience. As a local favorite, most of the natives simply recommend the place by stating, “Just go eat there,” which is a good enough reason to make the top of the list, along with consuming huge portions of baked macaroni and cheese with catfish.

MeMe’s Bar & Grille
Even though this place only recently opened in Chalmette, they are already reaching the top of the list. Offering both lunch and dinner, they serve phenomenal Eggplant Parmesan served with pasta and red gravy. The locals enjoy the crab cakes, seafood plates and the grilled veal T-bone with mushrooms and spinach. Appetizers include fried eggplant, fried chicken livers, Portobello mushrooms, oysters Rockefeller and barbecued shrimp.

Armond’s Eatery
The unassuming restaurant façade can easily make a less savvy eater simply drive by. However, they would be making a huge mistake. Armond’s is open Monday through Saturday, and offers a wide extensive menu that includes appetizers such as coconut shrimp, mozzarella sticks, and sweet potato fries. Their daily entrées include stuffed pepper with shrimp, veal cutlet, chicken tenders, rib eye steak, veal or chicken parmesan, chicken Alfredo, along with meatballs & spaghetti. No one should leave without at least trying the fries with chili and cheese for a down-home country eating experience. Their daily soups include gumbo along with shrimp & corn.

Par 3 Restaurant and Lounge
Typically considered one of the best-kept secrets in St. Bernard Parish, Par 3 Restaurant offers an extensive menu of seafood and American dishes. They offer oysters and artichoke soup, juicy steaks, seafood platters, and a variety of fried and raw oyster dishes. They also serve seasonal soft shell crabs, a local favorite, along with an extensive breakfast menu. As one of the best locations for local steaks, po’boy sandwiches and seafood platters, Par 3 is the place.

Plantation Bar & Grill
Located along Judge Perez Drive in Meraux, Louisiana, Plantation Bar & Grill offers an extensive menu from pork osso buco, to Chilean sea bass fillets. For appetizers, they offer escargot, calamari, sesame encrusted tuna, and jumbo lump crab cakes.
