Outdoor Jefferson Parish

Adventure awaits in Jefferson Parish! The 580-acre Bayou Segnette State Park is a great escape from the hustle and bustle of the city, located just minutes away from New Orleans. Nestled on the banks of Bayou Segnette, the park's extensive grounds comprise the most popular state park in Louisiana. Spend the day swimming and splashing in the wavepool, then, spend the night camping along the banks of Bayou Segnette in their new floating cabins. Or, perhaps you prefer a night beneath the stars along the beach of Grand Isle State Park. Head over to Elmer's Island beach and see the largest single coastal ecosystem restoration in CPRA history which includes 13 miles of gorgeous white sand beach! Hiking and nature trails abound throughout the parks and are waiting to be explored.

The Barataria Preserve is one of six sites comprising Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve. The 23,000 acre Louisiana Wetland Preserve interprets the culture of people, past and present, who settled the delta and the unique ecosystem which sustained them. It features beautiful nature trails, birding trails, and a visitor center featuring a kids activity center, Junior Ranger program, bookstore, and more. Guided tours are offered. Great place for hiking, canoeing, enjoying nature!
